Spring Fit 2023

Being born and raised in Arizona, summer was a huge part of my life. Shedding layers and getting in the river, lake, or nearest pool was a way of life to beat the heat. Now that I’ve been living on the coast for the last 10 years, I’ve acclimated to less brutal weather. Coming into May, the sun is peaking out and the weather starts to touch into the low 70s. After weeks of rain, I am excited to be able to wear tank tops and board shorts. Though, it's still not quite summer yet.

Spring 2023 outfit

This Springs’ 2023 outfit features LC King’s Duck Canvas 5 pocket jean, a varsity tank from Blade & Blue (out of San Francisco), and the ‘classic suede slides’ from Island Slipper is the chefs kiss.

LC King is a 4th generation, family owned clothing company out of Bristol, Tennessee. ‘Pointer Brand’ being the first line, created by Landon Clayton King, of his workwear back in 1913. Jack King still honors his great-grandfather today by continuing to make incredibly hard working clothing. These 12oz brown duck canvas jeans were my first pair of jeans that I purchased on my ‘made in USA’ journey, back in 2017. As you can see, they are holding up to years of good use with ease. With plenty more to come - LC King embodies heirloom quality.

Blade & Blue is a company I found simply trying to find underwear made domestically. Made in San Francisco, I was sold on the simple designs, and basic staples made here in the U.S. - proximity was a huge bonus too (footprint/shipping wise). This ‘Varsity Tank’ is one of my favorites. It’s incredibly soft and has a nice length to it. Great for work outs, sleeping, casual bar visits, summer kickbacks, etc.

Studebaker Metals, out of Pittsburgh, delivers solid work every time. They offer custom engraving, which I had done on a few of my cuffs. Featured here are the ‘Workshop Cuff’ & ‘Workshop Key Holder’ in brass/work patina. They also offer sterling silver and variety of different gold options. All are top notch accessories - nice touch for any occasion.

Island Slipper is a company out of Oahu, Hawaii. Hand making sandals since 1946. This pair is their classic suede slide with mouton (in Navy). I was really pleased to have found Island Slipper - I grew up in flip flops, so this feels like progress for me. I basically live in these things, even though I said I’d only wear them around the house.

Legend Headwear is one of those companies I found and just sort of immediately became obsessed with. They just make awesome hats. Initially, finding any hat made domestically was a challenge. After finding Legend; I could talk myself into buying pretty much every version of their camper. With this outfit, we have the red ‘Cord Camper’ paired nicely with the ‘Varsity Tank’. The fabric is a well crafted 8.1oz corduroy, 100% cotton fabric. Legend was incepted in 2017 but the parent company, Graffiti, has been in Cleveland, Ohio kicking out quality hats for private labels since 1984.
